Gandhari (2026) Story
The story follows Bani, a mother whose life changes completely after her young daughter is kidnapped. While searching for her daughter, Bani also suffers a serious injury that leaves her temporarily without sight.
Instead of giving up, she begins her own investigation and goes after the people responsible for her daughter's disappearance. Her search takes her into a dangerous criminal world where she has to confront threats, secrets, and people connected to the kidnapping.
The film uses Bani's blindness as an important part of her transformation. Rather than portraying her as helpless, the story follows how she adapts to her circumstances and uses her other senses, determination and physical strength to continue her search.
The title Gandhari connects with the idea of a woman dealing with blindness while remaining fiercely determined. The story ultimately becomes a combination of a mother's emotional journey, an investigation and an action-driven fight against the forces responsible for her daughter's disappearance.
Gandhari Movie Review
Gandhari is primarily an action thriller built around a mother's determination to find her missing child. Taapsee Pannu carries the central character, and the film places considerable emphasis on her physical transformation and action sequences.
The movie's strongest elements are its emotional premise, dark atmosphere, and the central mystery surrounding the kidnapping. The story also explores themes of motherhood, loss, determination, and the lengths a parent may go to in order to protect a child.
The supporting cast adds further depth to the story, while Devashish Makhija's direction lends the movie a darker, more serious tone. The film mixes emotional scenes with suspense and action rather than presenting itself as a conventional commercial action movie.
Audience and critic response has been mixed. For example, JustWatch currently lists the film at 13% based on 53 ratings, while the platform confirms that Netflix is currently the streaming service for the movie in India.
Overall, Gandhari is aimed at viewers who enjoy Hindi crime thrillers involving mystery, revenge, emotional drama, and strong female-led characters.
