Vadala (2026) is a Telugu psychological thriller released in theatres on 17 July 2026.
Story (short)
A seemingly perfect couple's life takes an unsettling turn when an unexpected presence enters their world. The film stars Jagapathi Babu, Laya and Hrithika Srinivas. One review describes the setup this way: Dr Yogi, a renowned surgeon, finds Amuda unconscious in a car and helps her recover in hospital. Her gratitude then turns into obsession with him. What starts as admiration gradually becomes fear and emotional chaos for his family. I'm only describing the premise, so there are no spoilers here.
Review
Critics were not kind. One review gave it 1/5 and called it a thriller that offers zero thrills, criticizing its predictability and its low-budget look. Another outlet rated it 2.5/5. An audience review on Rotten Tomatoes was more generous, calling it a worthwhile one-time watch for fans of character-driven thrillers, with sincere performances but uneven pacing.
- Good: The obsession premise is intriguing, and the lead performances are said to be sincere.
- Weak: The story is predictable, the pacing is uneven, and the visuals look cheap.
- Verdict: About 2/5. It's watchable if you like obsession thrillers and have low expectations, but it's skippable otherwise. It also seems to have done poorly at the box office, with roughly ₹0.29 crore gross in its first days.
