The story (what's public so far)
The film centres on Ajay Dixit (Manoj Bajpayee), a corrupt cop whose life takes a dangerous turn when a young girl is thrown out of a speeding vehicle. As he investigates, he's pulled into a web of conflicting statements, international conspiracies and tempting bribes. Everything happens over a single night, and one choice sets off a chain of events that pushes the characters into difficult moral corners. Netflix's tagline for it promises many stories, many characters and just one night to reveal the truth.
The suspense
The setup is a one-night, multi-suspect structure. The director says the single-night setting was meant to create urgency and gradually raise the stakes. The tension seems to rest on a cop who may profit from the case rather than solve it, and on several witnesses whose accounts don't match. I don't know the twist or the ending, and I won't invent one and pass it off as the real film's.
Cast and makers
It's directed by Ritesh Shah and produced by Neeraj Pandey, and the cast includes Nushrratt Bharuccha, Saqib Saleem, Divya Dutta, Akshay Oberoi, Kiku Sharda and Shraddha Das. It's Shah's directorial debut, and he's best known as a screenwriter. It was previously titled Ghooskhor Pandat, and the original name led to an FIR and a Delhi High Court petition before it was renamed.
Reviews
The film only dropped today, so I couldn't find any critic reviews yet, and I won't make up ratings or quotes. Check back in a day or two for reviews from outlets like Hindustan Times, Film Companion or Times of India.
